Rabbit!

Did you say "rabbit" first thing when you woke up this morning??? If you did, you will have good luck all month long! No, I am not crazy, it is true. This has been a tradition that my mom taught us when we were growing up. On the first of every month you need to say "rabbit" when you wake up. It has to be the first word you say or it won't work. I used to go to great lengths to try and help myself remember to say rabbit on the first of every month. I must say I have forgotten very few times. I have been devastated every time I do forget. Nate thinks it is silly and when I forget he tries to tell me I can just say "beaver" or "hamburger" and it will make it all better...but we all know that is just silly and wouldn't work! So if you forgot or didn't know about this little good luck advice, there is always July!

I said it!!! yah for me. My kids actually remember more than I do. Kylee even made a rabbit picture to hang on her ceiling! I think I might try the "beaver" thing, cause it couldn't hurt =)

Dang "Rabbit" was not my first word. I think "What?" probably was. As in "What are you doing up already?!?!" spoken to one of my children up way too early :P I'll have to try it out in July and see how it goes ;)

Melanie, I didn't know that you guys do it too! I think my mom got it from one of her roommates :)

My best friend taught me that in high school, though it was "rabbit rabbit". Every month I think of it, but I think I've actually only done it ONCE in the last 15 years. And I'm thinkin' that month was last October (when we got Megan). Hm, kinda explains the past 15 years of my life! ha ha

I think the first word I said yesterday was more along the lines of "dang it!" because the alarm went off at 4:30 so J could get on the road for his 3 weeks in Arizona. I'll have to remember for next month, shouldn't be too hard considering the rabbit was my high school mascot!

I thought mom learned it from grandpa? I remembered today!! Dillon says if you forget to say "wart-hog" and that's just as good!
