One of my favorite things

There are many things that I love about Christmas! One things that I really love is this great...well I don't know what it is called but it smells great! Here is the "recipe": - Half and orange sliced - Half a lemon sliced - Cinnamon sticks - Cloves - Ground cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg if you want * Put is in a pan on low heat on your stove and soon your house will smell like Christmas happiness!

Christmas Party!

Spencer had his first encounter with Santa at our ward Christmas party! Nate and I were asked to play Mary and Joseph for the Nativity. Spencer got to be baby Jesus. It was kind of special!

3 months old

My "little" baby is 3 months old today (and 18.5 lb!!). I can't remember life without him. It feels like we have always had him. I can't believe how much I love him! I love the way his face lights up and his eye brows go up when I sing or talk to him. I love when he lets out a little scream of joy when he is happy. I love to comfort him when he is sad. I love watching him grow up and learn new things (i.e. sucking on his hands, laughing, holding toys, making slobber bubbles, etc.). He is a very special little boy and I am so grateful to be his mom.

Baby's First Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving! We spent the day with my family and then had a second Thanksgiving dinner a few days later with Nate's family. It was some good eatten!
I have had this little onesie for about 2 years and I have just been waiting for a baby to put it in! It worked out perfect that Spencer fits in it!
This is my Grandma Later getting Spencer to smile!
This is my wonderful sister, Tausha. She quite likes the little guy! (Who can blam her!) Nate thinks he is so funny.
This is Spencer with two of his little Higbee cousins who are close in age. I think he out weighs them both...

Thankful

I am thankful for so many things and I could go on and on about them but I will say the three that I am most grateful for right now. First I am so thankful for this wonderful husband that I have. He is my best friend and such a wonderful daddy! He is my everything! Of course I am grateful for this little angle that is mine (this picture melts me). I am grateful for all this little guy is teaching me and for all the joy he brings into my life! AND I am SO grateful that he slept through the night last night (from 10 pm - 6 am! It was amazing!!)!!!!!!
Most of all this year I think I am grateful for my mom! When ever I am feeling less than patient or very tired, when I am having a hard day, I just think of her. It keeps me going to think of all that she did for me and helps me remember that I can do the same for my sweet little boy. How I love my mama!
I am thankful for all of you and hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Diapers.com

Well, for the first time since Spencer was born we had to get some diapers. Up until now we have been using the diapers I got for gifts and such. For a while I was thinking, "Wow we have not had to get diapers all this time..." and then I realized that although it feels like an eternity since Spencer was born he is just over 2 1/2 months! So we have almost gone through this whole stack.

Anyways...on with my point. I ordered diapers yesterday from diapers.com and they got here today! Before lunch time even! Now that is service! And I hear they are the best price around. Just thought you should know :)

p.s. Does the number of diapers you use a day ever slow down?

The truth shall set you free!

If you are pregnant, have a baby or know anyone that has a baby you have got to check this out! Here is the story...This summer when Nate and I were at our city fair, we saw a lady with a both selling swaddling blankets for $30. Yes they were very nice blankets but I am such a penny pincher that there was no way I was going to pay $30 for a blanket even if it did come with a free DVD to teach you how to help your baby sleep better...if I could just go back and know how much I would regret that!! For some reason I kept the business card just in case! Well the other day I was feeling so tired of being tired and not knowing how to help my baby sleep better so I just decided I would give her a call. I went over on Tuesday night and got the blanket and DVD (she lives pretty close to me). I LOVE the blanket but the DVD is GOLDEN! I watched the DVD right away and I will never be the same! I learned I was doing a lot of things wrong! How many of you have been told that you need to keep your baby awake in the day so they will sleep at night? I was told that by lots of people and I thought it made sense too!! How wrong I was! By watching this DVD I have come to understand that my baby needs sleep! Lots of it and the more he sleeps...the more he will sleep! I also learned HOW to put my baby to sleep! The night I got the DVD I was able to put Spencer to be in 13 minutes!! Before it was sometimes taking me an hour or more. I would say good night to Nate and then go down stairs with Spencer and know it would be a long time before I would be able to go to bed too! NOT ANY MORE! I can get him to sleep SO fast! It has been amazing! I am no longer stressing about getting him to sleep...or about keeping him awake! I know HOW and WHEN to get him to sleep and I know that I don't have to wake him up so he will "sleep better at night". I can't tell you how much this "truth has set me free!" The lady that owns this company has a %100 success rate. That is pretty darn good, don't you think? I would highly recommend checking this web site out and ordering her products! I would pay a lot more that $30 for a good night sleep, wouldn't you? Here it is: http://www.bbsleepsolutions.com/

Spencer's Blessing

We blessed Spencer yesterday here in our ward. Nate did a great job and Spencer didn't even cry during the blessing. Our families were able to come over after church for lunch. We had a great time. Spencer is so lucky to have so many people who love him! Could I love any two people more? Good thing I didn't put him in the little white tux I borrowed from a friend...he pooped all over this black outfit before Sacrament meeting was even over. (plus he was too chubby to fit in the white tux :(
He melts me! This is my parents 13th grandchild! I love my boy SO much!

Happy Halloween!

Well I am a few days late but better late than never. We had a really fun Halloween with my family. Spencer was the cutest monkey you ever saw! Three little kittens...
Carving pumpkins for family night!
This was my Halloween craft that I have been working on for...oh about a year! I finally finished!
This has nothing to do with Halloween but it is a very special picture of 4 generations!

Every little thing he does is magic

I remember being in the hospital right after I had Spencer and they told me that my recovery would be about six weeks. I remember thinking I would die before then...okay that is a bit dramatic but I did feel very overwhelmed. Six weeks felt like such a long time. And now here I am...6 weeks after the birth. I can hardly believe it. In some ways it has gone by so fast! And in other ways it has been a long six weeks...6 weeks is a long time. The transition into being a mom has truthfully been harder than I thought it would be. It has also been more wonderful that I ever could have imagined. I love that little boy more than I ever thought possible! Here are some of this week’s photos for your viewing delight!
Spencer has learned to such on his hands this week. I know...I don't want him to be a thumb sucker but I think it is so cute and it's nice sometimes when he can comfort himself with his had. Watching him learn to do new things is magic!
I usually just keep Spencer in pj's all the time because it is easy and we have a lot of them. But today he got dressed! I think he looks so cute! Of course he pooped on all over a short time later but it was great while it lasted! The camera really does add 10 pounds to this guy! I love these cute little socks that look like shoes!
And we are done!

Moby Wrap

I am pretty excited about this Moby wrap that I just got. I paid far too much for it only to discover I could have made one on my own for way less. It's just 5 yards of stretchy fabric! Oh well, I helped some lady who is trying to make money...right. Any how, Spencer seams to like it so far.

Happy 26 & 3/4 Birthday to me!

Yep, that is right...October 17th is my 3/4 Birthday...what?? You forgot??? Well so did I! The only one who remembered was my wonderful husband Nate! He woke me up this morning with a sweet card that said Happy 3/4 Birthday and a little clue inside. The clue sent me to another clue and another...each clue said something that he appreciated about me and gave the location of the next clue! In the end I was led to a few gifts. One was a box of chocolates and the other was the set of Jane Austen Movies!!!! I was so jazzed. He said he had been wanting to do something nice for me to show how much he appreciated me and he was thoughtful enough to think of doing it on my 3/4 Birthday! (no, we are not normally in the habit of celebrating our 3/4 birthdays...he is just cute and thoughtful!) He went out of his way to make today a nice day for me. I sure love that man! It sure is nice to have such a wonderful husband and best friend!

I love general conference!

I just wanted to say how grateful I am for General Conference! I always enjoy it so much. I had a few specific things on my mind as I began watching it on Saturday morning and I was amazed that in the very first 2 talks I received the comfort and guidance that I needed and then some. I felt like during parts of the talk, they were talking right to me! I felt SO strongly the impression that Heavenly Father knows me and is very aware of me and my needs. I am so thankful to know that. He knows all of us and is always waiting to bring us comfort and help if we will turn to Him. How awesome is that!

4 Weeks!

I would just like you all to know that by 11:00 am today I was dressed AND had my hair done. I put make up on and even ear rings! I am so proud of myself!! Spencer continues to light up our lives. We are so in love with him. He has had a hard time sleeping well for the last week but last night was much better. Here is my favorite picture for the week.
